Maine-based Schlotterbeck & Foss Celebrates 150 years of Fine Food Manufacturing

With its humble beginnings as a family-based apothecary business selling patented medicines and flavoring extracts, Schlotterbeck & Foss has spent the last 150 years growing into a highly successful producer of specialty foods. Last year, the company moved from its original downtown Portland, Maine manufacturing building to a contemporary 40,000 square-foot facility in Westbrook, Maine.
This move made it possible for Schlotterbeck & Foss to increase its manufacturing capacity and to attain a Level 2 Certification of Safe Quality Food (SQF). While SQF certification is a voluntary program, Schlotterbeck & Foss wanted to assure both its consumer and wholesale customers that S&F products are the safest and highest quality foods available in marketplace today.
With regard to the Schlotterbeck & Foss expansion, Marketing Manager Kate Whitney states, “We pride ourselves on being an artisanal small batch manufacturer and it has been exciting to see the reception in the marketplace and the growth we have experienced. We are proud to be a Maine-based company who is supplying products nationwide and look forward to continued growth in our new facility supporting our customers who embrace innovation and true goodness.”

Schlotterbeck & Foss employs around 90 people in its modern, SQF certified food manufacturing facility located in Westbrook, Maine where it produces fine food products including gourmet mustards, savory chef sauces and sweet dessert sauces. www.schlotterbeck-foss.com
