ANAHEIM, Calif., March 9, 2017 – Torie & Howard is featuring its new trial size bag of organic Chewie Fruities candy for retail at Expo West with a countertop and shelf display carton.
The retail display contains eight 1.27-ounce trial size packages of assorted Chewie Fruities, said Torie Burke, company co-founder. It takes up just 4- by 5 1/2-inches of space and was designed to satisfy a consumer desire for a convenience size of the candy that can be consumed on the spot or stashed in a purse, lunch box or carry on bag, Burke said. “We see this as an item that spans a variety of retail formats including specialty food, grocery, coffee and gift shops, and convenience,” she said.
The trial size has a suggested retail price of $1.69 and contains a single serving of individually wrapped pieces in an assortment of three flavors. It is available eight to a case and 12 cases to a master case. A 150-bag bulk case of the trial size package also is available.

ANAHEIM, Calif., March 9, 2017 – Torie & Howard’s USDA Organic hard candy and fruit chews continue to see retail penetration in the U.S. and internationally in keeping with the faster pace of growth of the overall organic food market.
On Point Trading, with offices in Tokyo and Carson, Calif., now is handling the entire line of Torie & Howard hard candy tins and Chewie Fruities fruit chews for distribution in Japan, said Torie & Howard co-founder Torie Burke. Giant Eagle, based in Pittsburgh, has added Chewie Fruities 64-count stand-alone shippers in 105 stores through UNFI of Providence, R.I., and Rouse’s Supermarkets has placed the shippers in its Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi locations through KeHE Distributors of Naperville, Ill. The Fresh Market has added assorted Chewie Fruities in select stores through First Source, Toano, Va., and Total Wine now is carrying the assorted Chewie Fruities through Haddon House of Medford, N.J., Burke said.
“Torie & Howard continues to expand our market penetration as growth of the organic food market continues to significantly outpace growth in the broader market,” she said. Organic food sales saw year-over-year sales growth in 2015 of 10.8 percent compared with growth of 3.3 percent in the overall food market, according to the Organic Trade Association’s State of the Industry report.
