March 3, 2017, Twin Lakes, WI: Lotus Brands was founded in 1992 to support the development and sale of health and wellness products that provided natural alternatives to address needs of the modern consumer. In a world laden with artificial chemicals and fragrances, Lotus Brands wanted to develop products that relied on natural ingredients for their effective action.

Over the last 25 years, Lotus Brands has continued to grow through brand development and acquisition. A number of the brands are leaders in their respective niche categories, including Beauty Without Cruelty, the first cosmetic and body care brand to make the case forcefully against animal testing from its inception in 1963 in the UK. Eco-Dent Premium Oral Care is found in health food stores nationwide and provides fluoride-free, low abrasive products for oral hygiene. Ancient Secrets offers the patented nasal cleansing (neti) pot. Nature’s Alchemy Essential Oils are a well-known and widely available brand in the industry. Light Mountain Natural Hair Color features 100% certified organic botanicals and no chemicals.

The company was founded by Santosh and Karuna Krinsky as a spin off from their earlier start-up Lotus Light Natural Body Care, a wholesale distributor in the health food industry. Santosh remarks “As Lotus Light grew, it began to acquire various brands of products, and we realized these brands could not obtain their full potential within the framework of a broad-based distributor operation. Lotus Brands was developed to create a dedicated team and specific focus on the brands to support their widening distribution opportunities.”

Lotus Press, a noted publisher of alternative health and wellness books, is a division of Lotus Brands. With a backlist of over 350 titles, Lotus Press publishes around 8-10 select titles per year, primarily in the subject categories of Ayurveda, Reiki, Herbalism, and Yoga.
