Kay's Naturals Launches Protein Chik-A-Peas at Natural Products Expo West

Kay’s Naturals of Minnesota markets high protein, low glycemic crunchy cereals & snacks they call a "protein bar in-a-bag.” At NPEW 2017,Kay’s is launching a new product line of pea protein and chickpea flour based snack chips calledChik-A-Peas. Chik-A-Peas will come in 3 flavors: Maple Bacon, Dill Pickle, and Smoky BBQ. Each 28g serving has 6g protein, 1-3g of sugar, and only 80-90 calories with great flavor and their famous crunch.
The company’s aim is to give consumers healthier choices in the marketplace.The project hits close to home for “Dr. Kay,”the food scientist who created the line for.his late wife in honor of herlifelong struggle with juvenile diabetes and his commitment to finding solutions to the twin epidemics of diabetes and obesity. His vocation coincides with the public's interest in improving health by improving diet.
“We have been showing Chik-A-Peas to buyers since January with a very enthusiastic response,” says Ann Jones Kazemzadeh, president of Kay’s Naturals. “We are delighted to add an additional plant protein based product to our award winning line.”
For some time, Kay’s Naturals has been collecting awards for its high protein products, among them: Taste of Expo, Natural Products Expo East; Trailblazer Award, Grocery Headquarters Magazine, January 2011; Best New Product, ECRM Diabetes & Obesity Event, Drug Store News, September 2011; Best Pretzel, SELF Magazine Healthy Food Awards, June 2012, and Ag Innovator 2016, Agriculture Utilization Research Institute.
