Virgin Raw Foods Installing Beehives on Rooftop of Los Angeles High Rise Building

Virgin Raw Foods is joining other concerned companies by installing beehives
on the roof of its eleven story building in Brentwood, CA. Best Bees, a full
service urban beekeeping operation out of Boston, initiated and is managing
beehive programs in cities across the US. The purpose is to support and
encourage sustainable growth in the bee population, which is being threatened
worldwide.
Since 1879, urban beekeeping has been banned in Los Angeles. It wasn’t until
last October, when the City Council voted, passed, and signed an ordinance to allow
placement of beehives in urban areas. Virgin Raw Foods will be part of the first
wave of companies to promote bee health in Los Angeles.
