Climate 101: Understanding Greenhouse Gas Emissions & How to Reduce Impacts

Marriott, Grand Salon F

Climate change poses a significant risk to the food industry. But as a business, do you know how you contribute to climate change—and how can you help reverse it?  Climate 101 provides a strong foundational understanding of the greenhouse gas emissions that our world-and businesses- produce, so that you can implement emissions management at your company. Critical discussions will address the difference between Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, and bring the concept of climate reduction initiatives to life through the lens of climate action areas.  Through interactive exercises, attendees will begin to identify the areas in which they can make the most impact on reducing emissions. Case studies from Annie’s, Inc. and Nature’s Path Foods, Inc. will highlight how they have prioritized and shaped their carbon management programs, and how they have multiplied the impacts of climate change programs with employee engagement. A roundtable segment will provide opportunity for the speakers to speak to lessons learned and audience questions. After this workshop, your company will be ready to begin tackling its biggest opportunities to help reduce- and reverse- climate change.
