The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) was established by the Government of India for promotion of export of Agricultural and processed food products. In addition, APEDA acts as the Secretariat for the implementation of National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP). Equivalency has been granted by the European Commission and Switzerland for unprocessed plant products certified as per NPOP. USDA has also accepted the conformity assessment procedure of NPOP.
