Alaffia conducts community empowerment projects in Togo, West Africa in order to reduce poverty and gender inequality. Members of Alaffia’s cooperatives harvest and handcraft raw ingredients, including shea butter and coconut oil, in Togo, which are then used to produce a variety of natural beauty products. Through the fair trade of indigenous resources, Alaffia encourages empowerment through women's cooperatives, community projects, and education and involvement in local communities.
