LOS ANGELES (March 9, 2017) –Natierra, the natural foods company best known for pioneering Himalayan Pink Salt and Goji Berries under its Himalania line, is proud to announce the launch of its ‘Feed A Soul’ Project. The concept is simple: for each bag of Natierra Himalania Superfoods sold, Natierra gives one meal to one child in need.
On a sourcing trip to Haiti, Natierra Founder and CEO Thierry Ollivier witnessed dire living conditions compounded by recent natural disasters. The majority of the population lives on less than $1 per day, with food insecurity and education as prevalent social issues. Ollivier heard firsthand reports of people eating mud cookies – ‘Bon Bon Terres’ in Haitian Creole. These sunbaked cookies, made of mud and vegetable oil, provide little nutritional value but make empty bellies feel full. Ollivier came back to the US with a mission: "we can do better than dirt."
Natierra’s goal is to give 1,000,000 meals by 2018. The meals will be distributed by Natierra’s giving partner, Convoy of Hope, a nonprofit organization that feeds tens of thousands of children in Haiti. Children will receive their daily meals in the classroom, because improving school attendance is key to empowering children and their families through education. "We are thankful for the generous support of Natierra," says Hal Donaldson, President of Convoy of Hope. "Because of such partners and friends, we are able to feed more than 160,000 children in 11 nations."
