gimMe Debuts Innovative New Line at Expo: Organic Seaweed Thins
Three flavorful varieties of layered crispy seaweed and nut snacks
San Rafael, CA – The family business leading the organic seaweed snack movement is launching a new line this week at Expo West: gimMe Organic Seaweed Thins. Visit booth #5252 for a taste of this delicious innovation and to try all of gimMe’s snacks.
gimMe Organic Seaweed Thins are both a nutritionist’s dream and a foodie’s go-to snack with 4-5g of protein, 6g of fiber and only 90 calories per serving. Crunchy sweet and savory nuts, seeds or coconut are layered between crispy seaweed sheets to make gimMe Seaweed Thins. The result is a tasty umami- experience. All are certified organic and gluten-free, vegan, and non-GMO project verified. The line is launching with three varieties: Almond Sesame, Toasted Coconut, and Sriracha Almond. MSRP $3.99/20g pouch.
To make gimMe Organic Seaweed Thins, gimMe harvests premium organic seaweed from a protected area off the coast of Korea and skillfully roasts it to perfection. Next, with careful direction from gimMe’s co-founder Annie Chun, the chefs use an ancient Japanese-style technique that brushes a Tamari-based sauce on each sheet of seaweed. Delicious sliced and roasted nuts, coconut, sesame seeds and spices are captured between the layers of seaweed to create this innovative wafer-like snack.
“As a food entrepreneur, I’m constantly pushing myself to create flavorful, nutritious products for my customers. I’m confident that we’ve succeeded with Seaweed Thins, and I’m very proud of our team and this launch,” said Annie Chun.
gimMe has driven 73% of the seaweed snack category’s growth in the natural channel over the past year, and expects its new offerings and new packaging design to continue to fuel their growth and success in 2017. The new line is just one of many ideas coming out of this forward thinking company that has led the organic seaweed obsession in the US market. gimMe's Roasted Seaweed Snacks were the first seaweed snack product in the world to be certified organic and Non GMO project verified.
The Nutritional Benefits of Seaweed
Seaweed offers the broadest range of minerals of any food on the planet, containing 10 to 20 times the mineral concentration of land plants, plus protein and fiber. A serving of gimMe organic Roasted Seaweed Snacks has 10% of the recommended daily value of vitamin C and 12% of the recommended daily value of iodine, a mineral which 74% of ‘healthy’ adults may be deficient in (Journal of the American College of Nutrition). According to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, those who consume umami-rich foods such as seaweed eat fewer calories but feel just as satisfied.
