Kristin Ohlson is the author of The Soil Will Save Us: How Scientists, Farmers and Foodies are Healing the Soil to Save the Planet, which looks at the work of pioneering agriculturalists and scientists to develop land management practices that respect nature and heal landscapes. Ohlson is an independent journalist who has published articles in the New York Times, Salon, Discover, Gourmet, Oprah, and many other print and online publications. Her magazine work has been anthologized in Best American Travel Writing 2008, and Best American Science Writing 2011. She is a general-interest journalist, writing on topics ranging from proton decay to the pleasures of getting lost in Afghanistan. She has a special interest in writing about science, particularly in turning complex subjects into narratives that ordinary people read with relish.
