Formerly Associate Chief Counsel in the Food and Drug Administration's Office of Chief Counsel, Washington, D.C., Jason focuses his food and drug practice from Faegre’s Boulder office on conventional foods, dietary supplements, cosmetics and medical devices. His clients include small and medium-sized food and dietary supplement companies (many located in and around Boulder, Colorado), cosmetics companies, international food and beverage companies, food packaging manufacturers, major retailers, researchers and specialty media for the natural and organic products industries. Jason provides legal advice and counsel for food additive petitions, GRAS notifications, product labeling, clinical trials, product advertising, good manufacturing practices, natural and organic product standards, new dietary ingredient determinations and notifications, compliance training, import/export regulations, food/beverage/dietary supplement safety reporting and recalls and responding to FDA inspections and enforcement actions.

As Associate Chief Counsel at the Food and Drug Administration, Jason advised FDA (including the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition) regarding enforcement actions, injunctions, inspections, product recalls and warning letters for dietary supplements, foods and cosmetics; food safety policies and investigations; nutrition labeling; implementing the food safety modernization act; and responding to civil litigation and GAO audits of FDA's domestic and international programs. He also participated in significant FDA rulemakings (produce safety and menu labeling), the development of industry guidance documents and served as interim counsel to the Deputy Associate Commissioner for Regulatory Affairs in the Office of Regulatory Affairs (the enforcement arm of FDA).
