Jaclyn Bowen

Executive Director
Clean Label Project

Description

Jaclyn Bowen is the Executive Director of the Clean Lable Project. Previously, she served as General Manager of Quality Assurance International (QAI), a leading advocate for organics and provider of organic certification for more than 20 years. Jaclyn oversaw QAI’s organic certification programs, which include certification to the USDA’s National Organic Program (NOP), as well as to international organic programs. In addition, QAI also offers non‐GMO, kosher, eco‐social, food safety, personal care and gluten‐free certification programs. Jaclyn began working at QAI in 2007 after working for QAI’s parent company, NSF International, where she helped develop and write American National Standards for food, drinking water and sustainability. Under Jaclyn’s leadership, QAI launched the NSF/ANSI 305 "Contains Organic Ingredients" certification program for personal care products, and actively collaborated and developed an equivalency agreement with The International Natural and Organic Cosmetic Association, NATRUE. Jaclyn also has helped launch QAI organic programs globally to enable companies to demonstrate compliance to both USDA NOP and other international organic standards. She led the development and certification of QAI’s Environmental Management System (ISO 14001), which continues to reduce QAI’s energy and raw material use. Jaclyn has worked closely with NSF International and the Organic Trade Association to develop the educational seminar “HACCP for the Organic Professional,” a two‐day seminar which bridges the gap in organic regulations and essential food safety standards. Jaclyn has a master's degree in management and policy from the University of Michigan, a master's degree in quality from Eastern Michigan University's College of Engineering Technology, and a bachelor's degree in environmental biology from Michigan State University.
